Challancin - Mont Court de Bard
This itinerary goes through the protection forest located above the village of Challancin (1.640 m a.s.l.) and ends at the watershed ridge separating the valley of Vertosan from the main valley. From Challancin we take the paved farm track up to the second turn. After about a kilometre, we take a rather steep path, on the right, and head on up to the farm track that goes to the chalets of Arpilles. From here we follow the trail crossing a creek and gently going up through the woods; we then take the right up to Col-de-Bard. We climb the grassy hills to Mont-Court-de-Bard at 2.254 masl, where we have lunch on a wide, beautiful clearing, enjoying an amazing view stretching 180 degrees from Mont Blanc to Mont Emilius.
