Thumel - Grand Vaudalaz mountain pasture - Benevolo hut
We leave the hamlet of Thumel (1.879 masl) and walk for about 15 minutes on the first stretch of the easy trail leading to the Benevolo hut, until we get to a fork at 1.980 masl, situated after a bridge on the creek Foss. Here we start the loop trek shown in the attached map which follows the trail n°12, cross the Dora di Rhêmes on a wooden gangplank and go into the valley of Grand Vaudalaz creek. After a steep hill, we reach a plain where the alpine hut of Grand Vaudalaz is situated (2.243 masl). Soon after, we get to a fork and take the path n° 13A on the right, which cuts across the hillside on the left orographic side of the valley, and then go downhill on the alpine meadow-pastures situated above the Benevolo hut (2.285 masl), where we stop for lunch. The way back is along the classic trail connecting the Benevolo hut to the valley floor where the village of Thumel is located.
