Gimillan - Lake Coronas

 

The itinerary runs through the gorgeous valley of Grauson, classified as site of community importance for the countless natural beauties characterizing it. We start from the hamlet Gimillan (1.800 masl), then  go uphill with an elevation gain of 100 m until we reach the mouth of the valley. Then, after a downhill stretch, we get to the hamlet of Ecloseur (1.903 masl), situated on the valley floor. The track then runs on the left orographic side to the alpine huts of Grauson Inferiore (2.273 masl). When we get to a fork, we take the left to the Invergneux Pass, follow the last stretch of the trail which runs north-west through the mountain pastures until we reach the amazing glacial basin where lake Coronas is situated (2.729 masl), the final destination of our trek.

 

In short:

  • Estimated journey time: about 8 hours (lunch stop included)

  • Meeting point and time: 9.00 a.m. at the car park in the village of Gimillan (1.800 masl)

  • Elevation gain: about 960 m

  • Length: about 16 km

  • Kind of activity: group trekking with hiking guide

  • Altitude of the highest point of the trek: 2.730 masl (Lake Coronas)

  • Terrain characteristics:  mountain trail with no specific technical difficulties

Scheduled hikes:

Every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from mid June to end of September. The booking must be submitted within the 24 hours before the start date of the hike you have chosen.

 

Other treks can be planned on request for groups of at least 5 people.

 

Difficulty of the hike:

E= hiker according to the hike difficulty rating scale of CAI. A fair level of fitness and health is required. Consider a minimum of workout before the departure.

The programme of the tour may be modified for reasons not attributable to the organization (bad weather conditions, technical level of the participants, etc.). The guide reserves the right to change the itinerary according to the weather conditions or for the safety of the group.

 

 Cost per person: 25 €

 

The enrolment fee includes:

  • The support of a hiking guide throughout the excursion

  • A third-party liability insurance for accidents due to the negligent behaviour of the guide

 

 

The enrolment fee does NOT include:

  • personal equipment and gear

  • travel costs to get to the meeting point

  • food and drinks (packed lunch)

  • anything not mentioned at “the enrollment fee includes”

  • in case of change of itinerary for reasons not attributable to the organization (bad weather conditions, technical level of the participants, etc.) the unforeseen expenses will be charged to the participants.
