Nature trail of Gran Paradiso national park in Montseuc (Cogne)

In this easy itinerary, we go through the protection forest located above the main village of Cogne (1.531 masl), we can  observe the morphology of the valley and enjoy an amazing view on the basin of Cogne, the famous iron mine of Colonna and the numerous villages of the valley. From the arrival station of the Montseuc cable car (2.073 m), the trail runs counter clockwise first on the flat and then southwards up along the watershed ridge separating the main valley from Valnontey. After we reach Montseuc, the highest point of the trail at 2.327 m asl, we make a long and easy traverse halfway on the hillside and we get to the place called Grand Crot (2.227 masl).

The trail then goes back down to the starting point through the mountain pastures that become ski slopes in winter.
