Plan Borgno – Valley of Meyes

We start from the hamlet of Pont and first reach the Roley Cross (2.313 masl), situated at the mouth of the hanging valley of Nivolet, enjoying a gorgeous panoramic view on the Gran Paradiso massif. We climb the left orographic side of the valley following a steep and winding path until we get to the abandoned alpine huts of Plan Borgno (2.635 masl), a beautiful glacial basin where we stop and have lunch by a lake. In the afternoon, we follow the local trail n°9 which goes northwards on the flat and after about one-hour walk, leads us to the valley of Meyes, an area of high nature value where we can spot numerous ibex and chamois grazing. At this point we take the trail going downstream and after we walk through the typical village of Meyes-dessous (2.278 masl), we get back to the starting point.
