The balcony on Mont Blanc
The itinerary starts from the village of Ermitage (1.461 masl) in the municipality of Courmayeur and immediately goes into the thick spruce forest characterizing this side of the valley. We walk at first on a slight slope and, after few minutes, the path starts to climb with some short turns leading to a first fork: we turn left and continue on a steeper terrain up to a second fork, after an hour and a half walk. From here the path continues on the left along the side of Val Sapin and then climb on the pastures preceding La Suche damon (1.816 masl), where a mountain hut is situated (closed in winter). From this place we can enjoy a stunning panorama on the Mont Blanc chain. Our excursion continues on the right of the houses, following the signs for Tirecorne-damon and goes into the wood again. We reach the pastures and houses of Tirecorne-damon (1.951 masl) after about 3 hours walk. To complete the itinerary, we go down the pastures heading east-west, with a diagonal line on the right facing the houses of Tirecorne-dèsot; we then get into the wood again and reach the signpost of the second fork we crossed when climbing up. In the final part of the excursion we follow the same route we came.
