THE WHITE TERRACE

loop trail  Gimillan - Ecloseur - Gimillan

Loop snowshoe trail above the beautiful glacial terrace of Gimillan, in the municipality of Cogne. The destination of the excursion is the mountain pasture of Ecloseur (1.903 masl), on the valley floor of the valley of Grauson, site of Natura 2000 for its nature beauties. From here, we go back to the starting point walking on the trail running up to Pian della Cretetta (1.950 masl), where you can enjoy a breathtaking view on the massif of Gran Paradiso. During the hike, we discover the winter aspect of mountains, we look for the footprints left by the inhabitants of the wood on the snow, we explain the adaptation strategies of animals and plants to cold winter weather and we give you the tools to learn how to move safely in a winter environment: excursion planning, basics of snow science, field study of avalanches.
